Warmer climates direct sow after all danger of frost and soil is warm. Colder climates sow seeds indoors 1 to 2 weeks before average last frost date. Germination can occur rapidly. Seedlings will develop long, spindly fragile red stems when light isn’t adequate, or they are kept inside too long.
Quinoa plants can reach 4 – 6 feet in height and require full sun.
Harvesting: Quinoa is ready to harvest about 90 – 120 days after sowing, when the leaves begin to fall, leaving just the dried seedheads. Harvest before heavy autumn precipitation, and before seeds start falling to the ground. Seeds can be easily stripped upwards off the stalk with a gloved hand, or shaken out over a bucket.

Growing pole beans allows the gardener to maximize planting space and harvest easily.
Beans do not transplant well and do best when directly sown into the garden. Sow the seeds when soil temperatures are around 60 F. (16 C.)
60 to 70 days to first harvest and can often be harvested at least five times during the growing season – permitting suitable weather conditions.
Pole beans need a support structure at least 6 feet high and the vines can grow 5 to 10 feet long. Pole beans need at least an inch of water per week and should not be allowed to dry out but also cannot tolerate soggy soils.

What’s the difference between “indeterminate” and “determinate” tomatoes?
Determinate tomatoes, or “bush” tomatoes, are varieties that grow to a compact height (generally 3 – 4′). Determinates stop growing when fruit sets on the top bud. All the tomatoes from the plant ripen at approximately the same time (usually over period of 1- 2 weeks). They require a limited amount of staking for support and are perfectly suited for container planting.
Indeterminate tomatoes will grow and produce fruit until killed by frost. They can reach heights of up to 12 feet although 6 feet is normal. Indeterminates will bloom, set new fruit and ripen fruit all at the same time throughout the season. They require substantial staking for support.

The structure of dill’s flowers is known as an umbel. Thus dill is considered an umbelliferous plant. Other umbellifers include carrots, cilantro, fennel, parsnips, and Ammi. All of these plants are attractive to predatory insects such as lady beetles, Syrphid flies (hover-flies), lacewings, and tiny parasitoid wasps. Organic gardeners like to grow dill precisely to attract these beneficial insects, for they will control pest insects like aphids, thrips, whitefly, and the cabbage moth.

Planting Instructions:
Start seeds indoors 8 to 10 weeks before last frost date of Spring. Surface sow or barely cover the seeds, which benefit from the light to speed up germination. Keep seed-trays warm and do not allow to dry out. When sprouts appear, move to a sunny window or grow light. Set out well-developed transplants after last frost date when weather is warm. Large plants may require staking, plant with plenty of room between.
Approximately 80 days till maturity.
