This recipe is so easy to make!
Cayenne Pepper Hot Sauce
You will need:
About 1 pound of hot peppers (approx. 40-50 peppers) I used cayenne peppers, I had a handful of serannos and habeneros left over that I also threw in.
You can substitute for any pepper you wish, the color may change.
- 5 – 6 large cloves of garlic
- 2 – 3 cups of regular white vinegar, you may need a little more or a little less depends on how thick you would like your sauce.
- 2 teaspoons of coarse salt
- 3 – 4 tablespoons water
- Blender
- Sauce Pan
- Fine Sieve
Modify as needed, this recipe is just a basic idea..
In your blender add about half the peppers, garlic, vinegar and all the salt and blend. Slowly continue adding the remaining ingredients, saving a little of the vinegar or adding more if needed. You would like a somewhat watery consistancy. Blending about 3 – 4 minutes on liquify mode.
Now pour your liquid into a sauce pan and bring to a boil, then simmer for about 10 minutes.
After simmer pour your liquid back into the blender, I just do this so I dont have to wash so many dishes – from here you will need to pur your mixture through the fine sieve into the pot.
Let sit until all the liquid has drained, you will be left with quite a bit of pulp, I put this pulp back into the blender adding a few tablespoon of vinegar and blend again, then strain again. I do this so I am wasting as little as possible.
Once all the liquid is drained and your hot sauce is cooled pour into your favorite glass bottles using a funnel and that’s all there is to it!
This hot sauce will last about 3 months in the fridge and makes about 3 1/2 cups ~ Enjoy!
