More Information
An heirloom from Amish country, these plants grow slim 6-7″ ears, from 3 – 6 ears per stalk. The yellow kernels pop into small, hull-less popcorn bursting with goodness. May also be used for ornamental purposes.
Plant seeds 1″ deep and 4 to 6″ apart in rows. Plant after last frost date. Soil should be at least 65 F for fast germination. (Corn will not germinate if soil temperature is less than 55 F.) To speed increase in soil temperature, consider covering soil with black plastic for several weeks before planting. Corn requires rich, fertile soil. Add compost or well rotted manure in fall. You can hill soil up around the base of plants as they grow to bury small weeds in the row and give the corn a better foothold. After the soil has warmed, you can mulch corn to help suppress weeds and retain moisture. 95-100 days till maturity.
It’s easy!
Thoroughly dry your Popcorn before attempting to POP! I suggest a minimum of 2 months indoors to achieve a full cob of popcorn.
-
Place the corn cob in a brown paper bag. Fold the open end over several times for a secure close
-
Place the bag in the microwave for two minutes on high. Listen for the kernel popping to slow down. Remove the bag as soon as the popping slows down to avoid burning the popcorn even if the two minutes are not up. OR try different methods of your choice!
1 Teaspoon of Heirloom & Organic seeds per package. Approximately 50-60 seeds
