Spit Bugs, Ewe!!
More Information
Also known as Cuckoo Spit, Froghopper and Spittle Bug
I don’t know to much about them except this year they seem to be everywhere and they are ruining my blooms and shriveling the leaves!
Get rid of them!
I just spent the past hour and a half wondering around my yard with a concoction spraying each one I could find and misting over the larger infestations.
Ingredients:
1 large Rhubard leaf shredded into a medium saucepan with about a litre of water, 6 or 7 garlic cloves skin and all, slightly mashed..boil for about 10 minutes let cool and pour into spray bottle with about a tablespoon of liquid dish detergent.
Then spray! You may need to repeat over the course of a few days. Caution Rhubarb leaves are poisonous to humans and animals if consumed in large quantities. Rhubard acts as a natural pesticide, the garlic deters new bugs and the soap helps to keep it stuck on the leaves!
