Easy Fruit Syrup
More Information
Make this easy syrup with any fruit – fresh or frozen! It won’t take you any longer than an hour from start to delicious finish.
You will need:
4 cups fruit
2 – 3 cups of sugar
1 cup water (add a little more or less to reach desired consistency)
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice or apple cider vinegar
large pot, metal sieve and funnel
1. Prepare your fruit by removing pits and washing if using fresh fruit. I used 3 cups frozen pitted cherries and 1 cup frozen strawberries.
2. Add fruit to water and 2 to 3 cups of sugar in large stainless steal pot. Start with 2 cups of sugar and add more for desired sweetness. Bring fruit, water and sugar to a rolling boil, add a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. If you do not have lemon juice a splash of apple cider vinegar will work. Boil for about 5 minutes or until fruit is broken up.
3. Turn to a low heat. Using a hand blender or hand masher blend fruit slightly. Now pour syrup mixture through a fine metal sieve to strain, bring to a boil for another 5 minutes. If you like your syrup slightly chunky add some pulp you have just strained through your sieve.
4. Let cool and using a funnel pour into containers! Put into refrigeration and store up to 3 months. This makes about 4 cups of finished syrup.
